DRINKING ALOE VERA...YES, BUT WHY ?

The different varieties of aloe

Aloe vera is a member of the Liliaceae family, which includes bulbous plants such as garlic, lily, mayflower, hyacinth, tulip and narcissus. There are 350 to 400 species of aloe in the world, but not all have the same medicinal properties, and some have none at all. Aloe Barbadensis Miller is the species found in almost all the specialities on the market. Why is this? Quite simply because it contains the most nutrients, almost 250 different ones.

Aloe Barbadensis Miller looks like a fat plant, but be careful not to confuse it with a cactus (Cactus family). In the middle of its foliage is a long stem, up to 1 m long, with yellow tubular flowers at the end. It is also the most extensively studied species. It originated in South and East Africa, and was subsequently introduced to North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, China, the Mediterranean countries and the West Indies.

The leaves of the plant are harvested when they are ripe, i.e. after they have seen 1,000 days of sunlight. The leaves are then packaged, washed and shredded to extract the mucilage/gel inside the leaf.

Forever's Aloe Vera gel is one of the purest available on the market. Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller has been recognised as a medicinal plant for thousands of years.
